Emily and Dave at the Lighthouse, Manhattan Posted by Spencer on July 14, 2014

I admit it. I didn’t believe it. I didn’t really think the hora would last half an hour. I didn’t think it would be as insane as it was. I didn’t. And I was wrong. So, so wrong. And that party, that night, from the hora on – that said it all to me. I remember at one point, I heard Emily say “I have to go dance! I love this song!” as she dashed to the dance floor to join Dave. It didn’t matter that it was just the two of them. That she had just gotten back to her table, as the song kicked in. That there was plenty more to come. All that mattered was being there, living it, loving it, and being together. That’s the sort of wedding it was.

Micki and Michael Posted by Spencer on July 7, 2014

There’s something special about starting a day out in someone’s childhood home. It’s like you’re being let in on a bit of history, seeing the past merge with the present. And isn’t that what weddings are about? The collision of time, place, and people? Watching Micki and Michael was a joy, as the day jumped from past to present to future. A day spent with close friends, wonderful family, and pure heart. You really couldn’t ask for more.

Nicolette and Jim at DUMBO Loft, Brooklyn Posted by Spencer on July 6, 2014

Daryl. You know. As in Walking Dead Daryl. Now what type of wedding has a life-size cutout of Daryl on the floor? And that’s how they rolled. Two people who loved each other, loved being there, and knew how to have some fun.

Sometimes, I tell people that there isn’t a wedding where I don’t see something new. Where people act a little different, hold each other a little different, kiss a little different. Or Daryl shows up. And people don’t believe me, but it is an absolute truth. No two weddings are the same, and that’s what makes it such a wonderful ride. Whether it’s Jim’s casual demeanor, Nicolette’s constant smiles, the way they hugged, held, or just stood together – this is exactly what life is about.

So what type of wedding has a Daryl cut out? An awesome one. Couldn’t have been happier to see it.
